Swagbucks.com

Swagbucks.com gives you free stuff. For real. If you surf the Net (or play games, use coupons, watch online videos, etc.) you could be earning Swag Bucks and redeeming them for merchandise, gift cards and more, just by doing things you're already doing. It really is that simple. Here is the skinny:

What is it?

Swagbucks.com is a website that offers all kinds of activities to earn points, called Swag Bucks. The site has a search engine you can use to search the Web, online games you can play, coupons you can print out to use at the grocery store, videos you can watch, and more. And when you do these activities at Swagbucks.com, you earn points.

In addition, the site offers Swag Codes, which are randomly generated codes, usually worth at least few points and available for a limited time. The Swag Codes are posted by the site's mascot, the Swag Guy, on the Swagbucks.com blog, Facebook wall or Twitter feed. You can also check for codes on the the Swagbucks widget, called the Swidget. A number of blogs and websites post the Swidget on their sites to make it easy for readers to check for codes, surf the web, shop for prizes and more. Here is Laughing Wallet's Swidget:

What can you get?

"So, okay, I can earn points. But what are they good for?" Lots of stuff! The site has a Swag Store that offers lots of products that you can buy directly with your Swag Bucks, such clothes, magazines, video games, jewelry, health and beauty products.

But probably my favorite thing that you can buy is gift cards. From restaurant cards to e-gift cards for specific online retailers, including the "everything retailer" Amazon.com, they have cards available worth as little as a few dollars up to hundreds of dollars. And you can buy them all with your Swag Bucks! I mean, seriously, is there anything you can't find on Amazon? Guess where I'll be Christmas shopping this year...

How can I get in on this?

It couldn't be easier to get in on the free swag. In order to earn points (and redeem them), you have to sign up for a free account. That's it. It doesn't cost a thing, it's a fast and easy process, and you start earning points from the minute you sign up.

I didn't sign up for an account for the longest time, because I thought it would be one more thing to keep up with, and now I kick myself for all the Swag Bucks I missed out on. They don't send me annoying emails or bug me. I installed their toolbar on my home computer, so it's easy for me to just hop on their search engine or check my points anytime I want, but you don't have to install anything if you don't want to. So, if you just want an easy way to earn free stuff, check out Swagbucks.com!
